QL CD-ROMs![]()
Visit this page for details of my QL CD-ROM collections available
from Q-Celt Computing or direct from me by mail order. A HUGE collection
of mostly free QL software plus my Launchpad graphical front end for
QDOS and SMSQ/E systems, including the brand new Wallpaper DVD/CD
collection of hundreds of colourful pictures for use as wallpaper on
Windows, QDOS or SMSQ/E systems. Most of the software on these CDs is freely available from this and other websites, but these CD's are complete collections and ideal for those who don't want to spend a lot of time and money downloading QL software from the web! Click here to enter |
NEW! QL On A Stick![]() The most portable QL you can get - click here for more information. Now with QL2K emulator! |
NEW! QL Toolkits CDAll sorts of free toolkits and BASIC programming utilities. Ideal for BASIC programmers! Click here for details. |
Most of the packages on this site are in zip file format - QL Zip and Unzip packages are available from the Archivers page on this site, and current versions can also be obtained from the website of the official maintainer of the QDOS Info-zip package, Jonathan Hudson. Note that if QL programs are unzipped using non-QDOS versions of Unzip, the QDOS executable file header will usually be lost and the programs may not work as intended.
The Sinclair QL is a vintage computer first produced in 1983/4 and still used by many worldwide. If you are into retro-computing at all, the QL is an ideal choice of computer. It has a wonderful multi-tasking operating system and a great on-board SuperBASIC interpreter for those who like to try their hand at the odd bit of programming! The QL has spawned several compatible computers, including the Q40, Q60, Thor and Aurora, plus several QL emulators which run on computers as diverse as PCs, Amigas, Ataris, Macs and Linux systems. More information on the QL is available from the About The QL pages on this site.
List of recent updates to this site
QL-related documentation, programming information and so on may be obtained from my other website on http://dilwynjones.topcities.com/index.htm (note: I am in the process of moving everything to this site as time permits) and on my QL Documentation CD, available from Quanta or Q-Celt Computing in Ireland. In the interests of promoting the QL, this and other QL CDs from me are freely copyable, so why not do the QL a favour and copy a QL CD for someone. See my CD-ROMs page for further details.
I've written quite a lot of QL software over the years and people often ask me if I have more recent versions available. After a suggestion from John Gilpin, I've compiled a list of as many of the programs as I could and included version numbers, whether or not pointer environment, toolkit 2, menu extension etc is required. The data is maintained in a spreadsheet, but you can download it in Html, Plain text, or Abacus spreadsheet format. The list covers software I have written only. Click here to access the list.
Most of the QL programs you can download from QL-related websites are in 'zipped' format and I assume most people will be downloading software using a PC. If you are unsure about how to transfer files between PC and QL and how to handle zip files, please click here to see my help page on this subject and a page by Timothy Swenson about using Rawrite to write QL boot disk images.
